Companies Double Their Investments in Economic Zone Sofia-Bozhurishte

Companies double their investments in Economic Zone Sofia-Bozhurishte as it becomes an increasingly more attractive investment destination. The German producer of automotive components Behr-Hella Thermocontrol GmbH, who signed the initial deal to enter the zone back in April 2013, has now made a decision to double its production capacities in Bozhurishte. The big decision comes in less than 2 years of the company launching its operations in May 2015 just outside of Sofia and marks not only the success of the company itself but also the successful development of the economic zone. A number of other companies residing in the zone are now considering expanding their production.

Doubling Number of New Investors in the Zone

The expansion trend is a clear sign of the potential of the zone, according to the management of National Company Industrial Zones (NCIZ). NCIZ operates a total of 9 projects across the country with Economic Zone Sofia-Bozhurishte being the most dynamically evolving one. Its strategic location on the crossroad of pan-European transport corridors, available infrastructure, possible access to railway network and proximity to major universities, R&D centers and other important institutions attract an increasing number of investors. Since its launch back in 2012 the zone has so far drawn 18 companies operating in high-tech industries as well as in the logistics and warehousing sector. The past one and a half years have been particularly eventful with the number of new investors doubling and investments surpassing 270 mln levs.

National Company Industrial Zones Boosting Investment and Regional Expertise

The successful development of Economic Zone Sofia-Bozhurishte is underpinned by another important feature – a large number of the residing companies sustain high-tech production operations, thus generating tangible high added value. According to the management of NCIZ, these are investments with a long-term perspective, which speak loud enough of the perception of investors who find the zone operator a reliable and trusted partner in the long run. The innovative productions are also creating opportunities for young Bulgarian professionals who seek career development in their home country as opposed to other EU member states. These companies are not only creating jobs but also boosting expertise in the region. They are also having a major contribution to the innovation performance of the Bulgarian economy and the country’s investment attractiveness. With all that, the zone and NCIZ appear to be steadily achieving their strategic purpose – to boost investment and improve business environment in Bulgaria.
