Veltins, the Germans’ favourite beer and one of the symbols of FC Schalke 04, is a modern business with a long tradition. It was started nearly two centuries ago. In 1824 Franz Kramer, a man of initiative, opened a small guesthouse brewery. Thirty years later it became the property of Clemens Veltins. His sons, the twins Carl and Anton Veltins, took over the management in 1893 and established Braeuerei C.& A. Veltins. Veltins is a low alcohol beer /4.8%/ which is available in all sorts of packing units and formats. In line with the modern trends in consumption the brewery offers options with lemon or cola with a lower alcohol content - 2,7 – 2,0%. The modern brewery is located in Meschede-Grevenstein in mid-west Germany. With a staff of 588 Braeuerei C.& A. Veltins is an important employer in the region. The staff of Veltins Group amounts to 2268. The financial results of the company for 2012 are impressive. 2 790 000 hl of Veltins beer went to the market. This means that Veltins Brewery had a turnover of 289 million euro while Veltins Group had 720 million euro. The company made investments for 23 million euro and put 35 million euro in marketing. Braeuerei C.& A. Veltins has been the sponsoring partner of FC Schalke 04 /Bundesliga/ since 1997 and of VfL Wolfsburg /Bundesliga/ since 2013.
